WWF: Weather negotiations developed countries need to do more

China News agency Copenhagen Ten Mid-spring 15th, the World Nature Foundation (WWF) warned that the developed countries in the climate change adaptation issues need more efforts. "Climate change adaptation mechanisms and measures, especially funding, are a key part of the Copenhagen Accord, but this topic is not being paid enough attention, due to commitment or funding."　　"Jim Castansen Kim Carstensen, director of the WWF Global Weather Action Project, said. "Weather changes are seriously affecting countries with weaker adaptability. Some developed countries have pledged to fund adaptation initiatives for poor countries in the past, but the ultimate is not.　　"said Jim.　　WWF exaggerates that reducing the impact of climate change needs to focus on reducing emissions, reducing deforestation and degradation, and strengthening adaptation actions, which cannot be divided and negotiated alone. "While we have received a lot of political commitment from our leaders to agree to keep global warming within two degrees Celsius, the actual emissions reductions that the countries are proposing in Copenhagen will only guarantee a global warming of three degrees Celsius or more," he said.　　"Once the warming reaches three degrees," says Jim, "the world will spend a great deal of money to change the lives of people, and to make many people face starvation and migrate to people living in islands, deltas and low-lying areas." WWF insists that climate change adaptation requires reliable, transparent and measurable financial guarantees, and that the money must be extra, rather than diverting money from aid schemes such as humanity, poverty, education and health care.　　Such financial support must be implemented as soon as possible to help vulnerable countries to immediately initiate the necessary adaptation actions. Many of the most vulnerable countries call for the establishment of a multilateral mechanism to compensate for some of the long-term losses and damage caused by weather changes. WWF supports that.
