Beijing time March 21 Morning news, Yahoo announced in Wednesday, has just acquired a company by the former employees of the mobile start-up company Jybe, with the company's technical team to improve Yahoo's mobile products.
Jybe has developed a mobile app that can recommend movies, books, and restaurants based on users ' social networking data. But Yahoo did not disclose the price of the deal.
Yahoo says it will close the Jybe service after the acquisition is complete, while Jybe's five engineers and data scientists will focus on improving Yahoo's own products. The five-member staff had previously worked for Yahoo.
Since Marissa Marissa Mayer last July as Yahoo's CEO, it has launched a number of talent acquisitions similar to the Jybe deal – introducing some good software engineers to help Yahoo develop mobile products.
Before the deal was announced, there were also reports that Yahoo was negotiating with Dailymotion, the video website of France Telecom. Reuters quoted people familiar with the matter as saying that Yahoo is planning to buy a 75% stake in Dailymotion at a 300 million dollar valuation. If it could, the acquisition would be the biggest deal since Mayer took over the Yahoo reins.
