Yahoo has formally issued a takeover offer to News Corp and the Disney-owned US video site Hulu, according to a two-person source quoted by Reuters.

Earlier, Time Warner Cable, the United States satellite television services company DirecTV, former News Group President Pitt Chenin (Peter Chernin) and the Guggenheim Digital media company (Guggenheim Digital Media) have launched a takeover offer to Hulu. Hulu is currently under joint holdings by News Corp and Disney.

Yahoo has yet to comment on the news. Earlier this week, Yahoo has just announced a 1.1 billion-dollar purchase of light blogging service Tumblr.
