Beijing time August 25 Evening News, Yahoo Company (YHOO) announced a deal, will buy Arabic website maktoob.com, but did not disclose specific terms.

Yahoo says it will be able to make an Arabic version of its email and instant messaging service.

The company says Maktoob has 16.5 million independent users (unique user).

"The acquisition will accelerate Yahoo's expansion strategy in high-growth emerging markets," Carol Bartz, Yahoo's chief executive, said in a statement. ”
