Robert Kinkol, a vice president of YouTube's global content, said the number of visitors from mobile devices has now reached one-fourth per cent of the total number of visitors to the site, according to a news report in the early hours of October 11, Sina technology. "We are experiencing a major shift in consumer behaviour," Kinkol said at the Abu Dhabi Media Summit. Over the past 18 months, mobile browsing has risen from 6% to 25% per cent of the entire YouTube site. "The data released by Kinkol has grown sharply compared with the official data that YouTube recently provided. YouTube previously announced that mobile browsing in 2011 was twice times higher than in the previous year, representing a 20% per cent share of the total volume. In all online media, the tendency for users to move to mobile devices has been shown, but for YouTube it is particularly difficult to engage in mobile operations. Until recently, YouTube had used only a small portion of mobile traffic to provide advertising, and the vulnerability on the site had allowed hackers to exaggerate the mobile browsing data for certain videos. However, YouTube has solved these problems and has launched a new iphone version of mobile apps to display ads. (Tangfeng)
