YouTube launches ad-free streaming media subscription service

YouTube has been testing the streaming media subscription service music Key,music Key for use on web-side and Android phones since Monday. Users are not bothered by ads when listening to music, and apps on Android also support local downloads of music.

The service is now free and will be open to the public for a six-month test after a 7.99-dollar price. This price is lower than that of competitors, such as Spotify, which charges 9.99 dollars per month.

Music is just the first step in Google's content ambitions, and YouTube's CEO Susan Wojcicki said at last month's Recode conference that YouTube will be ready to offer subscribers free of charge.

Google's advertising business is the main revenue that has underpinned their rapid growth over the past decade, but the growth of this sector has been at a bottleneck.
