SAN FRANCISCO, June 26 (Xinhua) Oculus VR (Oculus), an immersive virtual reality technology company, has hit ZeniMax, software company id Software's parent company, which filed a lawsuit alleging that Oculus used theft The resulting code developed its famous Rift virtual reality gaming glasses.
Oculus said in a court filing filed on Wednesday that ZeniMax's suit is opportunistic and clearly claims that its Oculus products do not use ZeniMax's code.
The document said: "ZeniMax's lawsuit falsely claims that it owns the Oculus VR technology, which is obviously an attempt to use Oculus to be sold to Facebook transactions." The document also made it very clear: "Oculus do not use any of the products ZeniMax Any line of code or any of its technologies. "
Oculus was acquired by social networking giant Facebook earlier this year, and ZeniMax filed a lawsuit shortly thereafter. John Carmack, the founder of id Software, switched to Oculus shortly before the deal, making the lawsuit even more dramatic. ZeniMax claims that the company has been devoted to developing virtual reality technology for many years and that it is clear that both companies have had close contact over time.
Oculus pointed out that ZeniMax does not even specify in the lawsuit which technology Oculus has stolen. The document said: "Although ZeniMax has always had the full Oculus software source code for the past year and a half, it has never found any 'stolen' code or technology in any Oculus product."
Oculus said that ZeniMax wanted a "quick payoff" with speculative ideas and said the allegations made by ZeniMax were not big deal. (Tang style)
