In this conversation with Caijing World magazine, topics involved include the impact of e-commerce on retailing, the future of Taobao and the cat, the Burberry-cat shop, Alibaba's move at the mobile end, their attitude towards micro-letters and micro-letters and the impact of Alibaba's listing on the company. Today the whole retailer's own view of business development, I personally think there is a fundamental change. When E-commerce began to appear, such as five years ago, people's view of it is very hazy, think it will affect the future business development, but still with the existing business, I have this business, and then do a ebusiness. Some industries call the electricity business channel a new route. But what is actually happening today? It is not a new path of physical superposition, but rather it can use the ideas and techniques of the Internet to update the original path into a new form of access. The last thing that electronic commerce brings is more extensive than the sales channel, because it can not only produce sales behavior with consumers, but also can generate interaction and create a connection relationship. This value is very, very large, more than simply sales, because it will help in the long-term business, with the user's connection.
We are not here to subvert an industry, we hope that through our efforts, can provide some value, and ultimately with partners upgrade our thoughts, and ultimately to let their business be upgrade.
I prefer to use a word is digitalize, electronic. In fact, all business today is facing an electronic process. A few years ago we said that electronics and business are unified, there is no business called electronics, a business called business. 2, for the current popular "O2O", Alibaba's attitude is what?
You will instinctively think that "digitalize does not mean you have to help companies to connect online and offline, to O2O ah" these things, in fact, I personally hate to use the word, I think this word is more misleading.
First of all, two o should be an interactive relationship, it is a process of mutual conversion, and secondly, because of the mobile Internet, all things can always be online. Can you surf the Internet in a store? Since you can surf the Internet in the store, you can buy things online in the store. You saw a dress, swept its bar code, bought it, what is this called behavior? Is this an e-commerce or a retail line? In fact, this time is not so important. This is my first point of view. Itself these two o will become an O, line, line is fused together.
The second problem is that, in different industries, the approach of integration will vary. It's hard to imagine spending 1 million on a car online today. Sure you can buy it online, but you still have to have to look after the car and drive. Maybe one day in the virtual space you can have a test drive experience, but in essence many services have to be provided online.
So it should not be generally called O2O. Now summarize it as a word and turn it into something that everyone is doing, it's fashionable, but it's actually too simplistic.
Today, the "double 11" Singles Day has become China's largest online shopping festival. November 11, 2013, Alibaba online turnover exceeded 30 billion, reached 36.2 billion yuan.
3, offline retailers are actually divided into two kinds, one is brand, such as Uniqlo and Gree, the other is a channel, such as Carrefour and Suning. Is Taobao and the Sky Cat to channel business revolutionary?
I don't think so. We do not have a direct relationship with them, because in the end, whether online or under the net, they are selling goods, rather than we are selling, we are a platform service, is to help them to the line to sell things. DI letter, Phone World, grand three of the original line of the enterprise, today in the cat is also very active, why? Because they also want to do online, then I say OK, because I do not sell goods, so you come I will serve you sell goods, right?
Some industries will be the brand directly to sell goods as a feature, the most typical clothing, and some industry channels in the Chamber of Commerce in the sale of goods, because it provides a unique value, so formed a channel brand, such as cosmetics, electrical appliances, mother and child, home building materials. The core problem is that it provides the value of the supply chain integration, the value of the cushion, the value of the fund tray, including the value of the goods judgment, which is the basis of its profit in the whole industry.
I think the whole industry chain itself needs a lot of participation, E-commerce does not mean that is direct marketing, or from the factory to sell to users, the entire channel relationship will still exist, but will be rebuilt.
4, E-commerce will not eliminate the value of some channels?
The connotation of channel value I think it needs to be combed and constructed, but as long as there is someone here who can provide unique value, it is possible to exist. Maybe some of the categories are direct sales, the middle channel are all killed, but there are some intermediate channels still exist, because it provides value. For example, deep distribution, China is so vast, even if you sell online, your physical deliver also need a deep distribution structure system, these distributors are valuable.
5, then why is similar to suning even Carrefour days are far less than before?
The reason is how to follow the footsteps of consumers to embrace change, this is the most important. We say their days are not good, I think the most important reason is the consumer's behavior and habits have changed, and we can follow the habits of consumers to change, to serve him, to change the way we serve. Today, there is no Taobao, no cat, as long as the consumer behavior changes, the Internet generation into a consumer main crowd, there will still be new companies to solve this problem, it must be.

6, like millet, music, such as new companies, they set up a platform to sell their own products, this will become a trend in the future?
It's hard to use trends to express, I think is one of the schools, hardware and software integration, and then form their own ecological system, the content and hardware better integration. Now the home appliance industry has appeared music and millet, all the home appliance manufacturers are doing internet TV, the problem is the content and hardware.
First Millet because of its products are popular, forming a broad user base. The aggregation of the user makes it possible to face the user directly, but even so, it will still use other channels, because the user is still distributed throughout the Internet, including the various links under the line. Frankly speaking, to us, the core or the user, the user is not with us. Millet own ability to reach a stronger, so its own channel ability will be stronger, but there are a large number of brands, the ability to reach users of their own channels will be weak.
7, similar to millet and music such as the company will be more and more? What is the relationship between them and the cat?
All the names you say are in partnership with the cat, but it's a question of how much of this cooperation is the overall proportion. Now it should be about half of the total, because our market share is about half.
Now the narrow sense of the Internet only accounted for the entire retail share of 8% to 10%, the narrow line accounted for 90% to 92%. Now I am most concerned about the problem, the first is that the overall consumption capacity is still improving, the second in the process, because of the development of Internet technology, the definition of e-commerce is changing. If you follow the original definition, electricity is still a very low level, I think it will reach 20% to 30%, but because of the development of wireless internet, any transaction will become electronic transactions, any consumer behavior can become based on electronic consumer behavior, its share may from the original 30% to higher, May be a 37 ratio, the future should be such a trend.
In this process, what we are going to do is how to help the enterprise to achieve 10:90 from now, evolution to 30:70, and then to 70:30. But it's not that we cut it apart, more lines on the line less, but because the use of electronic means, it serves the user's ability to more powerful, with the user's connection is higher, the user is higher, and finally the whole business efficiency is higher, I think this is the source of the problem.
8, the next step of E-commerce growth, is a simple constant growth or is there going to be a variable growth that you don't know?
The growth of constants is indeed predictable, and it is more derived from category extensions. It's not that the category on this platform is growing, it's the width of the consumer's purchase, because with the convenience and the internet going deep into people's lives and the popularity of electronic payments, you could have bought something online one months later, five times and 10 times. 9, Alibaba to do double 11, to give everyone to see what? Or look at the growing numbers?
We never thought to show you a number. The first is a consumer holiday, in this festival, can let consumers have more unique experience, so that participating businesses also have a new experience, I think this is the crux of the problem. The numbers just say that on a specific date, using the Internet means to operate the supply and demand, detonate it at a specific point in time, generating a number. It's just a result, and the most important thing is that the way you detonate is going to change, and that's what we're going to explore.
10, so, how to change?
I think we should leave a little suspense about how this year has changed. And we're 11 a year and never wanted to say what we do next year. Although the company is getting bigger, there is actually an innovative approach. My own feeling, the overall trend should be to help the business of electronic, based on this to create a new user experience, while the category further expand to form a better user experience.
11. How to persuade Burberry to open a shop on the cat?
I did not persuade them to come by themselves. In the entire luxury industry, I admire Burberry, which is a very leading company in digital. When we communicate, there is a lot of consensus on how to use electronic methods to diversify sales, marketing, and user interaction, and they have actually done a lot of research in other countries. We are the Mahouve animal, we are the same animal, I think this is the source of the problem, and not that we are an ecommerce platform, they are a luxury brand. So to tell you the truth, I didn't take the energy to convince. In fact, we will not spend energy to convince who, because persuasion is useless, the key is that they have not figured.
Now many companies include luxury brands, frankly until today still think luxury brand is high-end and scarce, it also wants to use the way of isolation and user relations to maintain the noble, the electric dealer as a similar scourge of things, because it will break me this thing. We all agree that fundamentally users are already electronic users and Internet users. You have no problem keeping your brand tone and brand image, but you have to think about how to use it to communicate and complete brand communication in a way that meets the needs of your users. 12, in your opinion, the future of Taobao and cat possible crisis will be?
I feel that the whole platform still needs to be upgrade. How do we make the whole ecosystem in a healthy state, maintain a benign metabolism, evolve in the process, I think this is the vitality of the entire platform. In this process, I think the diversification of Taobao, fun is actually the whole root cause. This source originates from the seller's soil, from the richness of the commodity. 14, with Alibaba so large volume, how do you maintain innovation? This is a very classic management proposition, the so-called innovator's dilemma?
We also face this problem today. 15. After the "good deal", what is the whole company worth talking about the innovation?
After "Poly", we have a whole business model, including the use of data, or something important for the future, but it may not be suitable for the use of numbers to express. For example, we talk about big data every day, the operation of the whole data and the value of data, how to reflect in the business? Data business is not a separate business, it is not selling data, it is service business. I call it permeability, and the proportion of data used in the business is growing. It may be difficult to form a stand alone for you to see, but it is a very important and fundamental innovation for us.
In the business scenario, we will have some progress on the two globalization and mobilization. I don't want to call it a level of innovation, but there are still some progress. What we see today is that there is always a chance, and the key is whether we can catch it. The core here is human.
16, in the data permeability, what is the more figurative expression?
Visualize the expression, today average per user ID we have 5,000 tags on top. The clarity, collection, storage and use of these labels is a basic service at the bottom. In the past few years we have spent a lot of effort on this, which is the consumer database. Second, it's better to be applied, and we're doing a lot of things in search, recommendation, marketing, including directional advertising. 17, data analysis is Aliyun doing? Who is responsible for this part of the work?
Aliyun is more responsible for the storage and computing power of the underlying data. But this ability needs someone to use, like it made a kitchen, someone must go in to cook. Recently, we have changed the name of a department. We have a department called the Business Intelligence department, many companies also have, we call the data technology and product division. It is not to give you some charts, tell you how good the business is, but everyone should be combined with a business, to think of their own data products how to design, how to apply in the specific business.
The department now has hundreds of people, as well as a number of senior algorithmic scientists and data mining experts. We are looking for high people everywhere, we need to find the world's first-class talent to do this thing together. But there is no doubt that all the people, as long as he is doing data, see our data are the eyes green light feeling, I saw several. 18, after beginning to take over Alibaba's wireless business, what do you think of this piece? Did a lot of people ask you this question, you are getting tired of being asked?
Really no one asked, I have not received an interview. My thinking is, we still have to follow the user to go. Everything we do today is a fusion, not a separate consideration of the wireless problem. First of all, we still have to base on the source, E-commerce is the strongest thing Alibaba. Just today, because of the wireless internet, the entire business model and user acceptance will change. PC, mobile phone, TV, the future wearable equipment and other new things, nothing more than a number of terminals, a number of contact with the user's carrier. You can also think of the offline store as a terminal, the package from the Ark also as a terminal. The core is still around the user, not around a device to design, which is my view of the whole issue.
So today I will be the PC Taobao and mobile phone Taobao on the organizational structure to consider. The consumer needs what kind of product, maybe its expression is different in wireless and PC, but its kernel is the same. At the same time for the same group of people, its consumption content is at least relevant, or even the same. And more importantly, the user is switching between multiple terminals. No one is looking at the PC, not the phone, and no one is looking at the phone but not the PC. The probability of a user being on a particular device is greater at a particular time period. Our entire product is designed around this.
19, you say not around a certain terminal, it is easy to understand that is in the micro-letter, because micro-letter is such a strong application of a specific terminal.
Why do we do things to specific micro-letters? We should do things to the user, to the consumer, to the business, rather than to a specific terminal to do things. I don't think it's my idea.
Not that we do not do mobile terminals, we spent a lot of energy to do. For example, what do you do on the phone, and when you go back to the PC, can you continue? Can the next step on the PC to the phone to continue? This is a lot to consider on the phone, but it is essentially centered around the user, which is the most critical point.
20, the mobile phone Taobao will become your mobile phone on the main battlefield?

35. Is it possible for Alibaba to produce large variables like micro-letters?

38. Do you think listing will be a major change for Ali, including the mentality of employees?
