Recently, the U.S. patent operating company InterDigital v. ZTE patent infringement case, the United States International Trade Commission (ITC) judge made a preliminary ruling, ZTE does not infringe the three patents involved. In the face of a new round of patent litigation initiated by InterDigital, ZTE once again won after InterDigital's defeat on ZTE, the first lawsuit involving seven patents, failed. ZTE is also the only Chinese company that has won 337 U.S. four-game winning streak.

It is reported that in January 2013, InterDigital launched this lawsuit, involving patents related to 3G / 4G terminal three patents. As early as July 2011, InterDigital first accused the ITC of the United States of violating its seven patents, including ZTE and other Chinese companies, and initiated the investigation of 337 and issued an exclusion order prohibiting ZTE from selling 3G mobile devices in the United States. After more than two years of trial by ITC, in December 2013, ITC made a final ruling on InterDigital's initial allegations. ZTE does not infringe on all seven InterDigital patents involved.

InterDigital, a US-based patented company that owns nearly 20,000 patents (or patent applications), claims to have multiple 2G, 3G and 4G standard patents in the field of wireless communications.

Commenting on the new round of patent victories, Guo Xiaoming, ZTE Vice President and Chief Legal Officer, said: "We welcome ITC's decision to make this fair decision again, and we welcome a more rational and friendly consultation than a tougher and endless lawsuit. Way to resolve the current patent dispute. But the abuse of patent litigation action, we will resolutely counter-attack by lawful and safeguard the interests of the company and its customers. "

ZTE expressed its respect for the legitimate patent claims of other manufacturers and has always sought to solve the intellectual property disputes in the telecommunications industry through cross-licensing and package agreements in an open and win-win manner. At present, Broadcom, Siemens, Ericsson, Microsoft and Dolby have reached broad consensus and signed dozens of cross-licensing agreements on global intellectual property rights.

With continuous large-scale technological innovation and investment, ZTE Corporation is confident in meeting all kinds of patent challenges. It is reported that ZTE nearly 5 years R & D investment more than 40 billion yuan. As of the end of 2013, ZTE had over 52,000 patent assets, of which over 16,000 patents were granted. In 2011 and 2012, the number of PCT applications ranked first in the world, second in the world in 2013 and first in China.
