The company is developing back-end technology to expand its popular games into home game consoles, according to foreign media reports, Mark Ping Pincus, the US social game developer, said in an interview recently.
The backend technology involves a state-saving problem between the major gaming platforms, and it specifically mentions the Xbox 360.
As a social game giant, Zynga's popular games include the Gang Wars (Mafia Wars), Town Town (CityVille) and Happy Farm (FarmVille). In the Facebook platform alone, Zynga plays up to 200 million players a month. Expanding into game consoles is a logical development for the company, though Zynga developer Blaine Reinolde Brian Reynolds last year said the Xbox Live user base was too small. Microsoft Xbox Live Gold has more than 30 million users.
In addition, Zynga's many popular games rely on touch screens or "clicks", and none of the games can match the Xbox 360 controller well. It remains to be seen whether Zynga will enter the platform and what games will be launched against the platform.
