An overview of Android

This is the first time to study Android for me, I referred to the Android Zone. When i saw Android at the first time, i fall in love with it. I feel that it is very interesting. Compared to IOS, i prefer to Android development. Due to open source, i suppose Android will be popular one day!

 

Every day, i will make a memo or note for my Android study. Either opinions or knowledge points can be recorded. Anyway, i will show the progress of my Android study. I hope it will give you some advices or suggestion.

• What is Android?

An explication from Android Website is that Android is a software stack for mobile devices that includes an operating system, middleware and key applications. It is an open source operating system on mobile based on Linux platform. Android SDK provides basic tools and APIs, so we can develop Android applications on its own operating system using java.

 

• Features

I only list some features that i know, such as Reusability, Replaceability, DVM(Dalvik Virtural Machine), Browser based on open source Webkit engine, Graphics, Structured data storage, Media, Rich development environment, Cemera, Bluetooth, etc.

 

• Android Architecture

Android is devided into four parts, including Applications, Application Framework, Libraries(Android Runtime) and Android Kernel. The following screenshot is the structured diagram(From Android Website).
