 Catalog是一個獨立的資料庫， 它用來儲存從目標資料庫的控制檔案中擷取的RMAN 中繼資料。RMAN 將有關資料庫結構、歸檔重做日誌、備份組以及資料檔案副本的資訊從目標資料庫的控制檔案傳播到恢複目錄中。當要管理多個目標資料庫時，應該使用目錄。

  先看建立Catalog的步驟

1. 建立資料表空間

SQL> create tablespace rman_ts ;Tablespace created.SQL>

2. 建立Catalog Owner

SQL> CREATE USER rman IDENTIFIED BY rman DEFAULT TABLESPACE rman_ts QUOTA UNLIMITED ON rman_ts;User created.

3. 賦許可權

SQL> GRANT recovery_catalog_owner TO rman;Grant succeeded.SQL> GRANT connect, resource TO rman;Grant succeeded.

4. 建立Catalog

現在target資料庫配置一個catdb的連接字串，指向catlog的資料庫。

11gdg-> rman catalog rman/[email protected]Recovery Manager: Release 11.2.0.3.0 - Production on Thu Jul 9 11:36:49 2015Copyright (c) 1982, 2011, Oracle and/or its affiliates.  All rights reserved.connected to recovery catalog databaseRMAN> create catalog tablespace rman_ts;recovery catalog created

5.串連target資料庫，使用Catalog 。

6. 註冊目標資料庫

RMAN> register database;database registered in recovery catalogstarting full resync of recovery catalogfull resync complete
