Powershell 是運行在windows機器上實現系統和應用程式管理自動化的命令列指令碼環境。你可以把它看成是命令列提示符cmd.exe的擴充，不對，應當是顛覆。 powershell需要.NET環境的支援，同時支援.NET對象。微軟之所以將Powershell 定位為Power，並不是誇大其詞，因為它完全支援對象。其可讀性，易用性，可以位居當前所有shell之首。 當前powershell有四版本，分別為1.0，2.0，3.0 ,4.0

如果您的系統是window7或者Windows Server 2008，那麼PowerShell 2.0已經內建了，可以升級為3.0，4.0。
如果您的系統是Windows 8 或者Windows server 2012，那麼PowerShell 3.0已經內建了，可以升級為4.0。
如果您的系統為Windows 8.1或者Windows server 2012 R2，那預設已經是4.0了。

內建：一旦裝上了windows 8 client 或者 windows 2012 server 預設的Powershell版本就是Powershell 3.0 。如果你想使用Powershell2.0 需要重新下載。
下載：如果你的機器是 windows server 2008 或者 windows server 2008 R2，再或者是win7，也可以下載Powershell 3.0.，不過Powershell 3.0 需要 .NET 4.0的支援。

Powershell 3.0 將會作為Windows Management Framework 3.0的一部分。

Windows Management Framework 4.0 安裝包，現在支援下載和安裝了。WMF4.0 可以讓你在許多微軟舊版本的作業系統上，利用Windows8.1和Windows Server 2012 R2中的管理技術。正式版與之前的預覽版相比，包含了許多改進，客戶在安裝和使用之前，請確保仔細閱讀了這篇文章，特別是WMF4.0與一些舊版本的Windows 伺服器產品不相容。

Windows Management Framework 4.0 預覽版是今年7月份公布的，當時我們非常興奮更夠在社區中討論它的用武之地，那現在，它只會變得更好。

WMF4.0可以安裝在Windows 7 SP1，Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1, Windows Server 2012 和 Windows CE7上。需要注意的是，WMF4.0 無法安裝到Windows 8上，但是你可以通過Windows Update來擷取Windows 8.1的免費更新，該更新包含了WMF4.0。對於WMF4.0來說，NET4.5是一個額外的先決條件，請確保在安裝WMF4.0之前,您的機器上已經安裝了.NET4.5,否則會議靜默的方式顯示安裝失敗。
