Ultrasound Device Coming to Windows Mobile

Engadget recently posted an interesting story about an ultrasound device being developed for Windows Mobile phones. According to the article, two computer science professors at Washington University have created a USB ultrasound probefor Windows Mobile smartphones. The device could be used by traveling medical staff, emergency workers, in ambulances, and anywhere else there was a need for an on-the-go, portable scanner. It would especially be useful in the developing world, where access to medical equipment is hard to come by, but mobile phones aren’t. The device should sell for around $500, which makes them much more affordable than current portable ultrasound devices which go for $30,000
