Definition and browsing Translation:
Translation is a Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Analysis Services (SSAs) object (for example, a measurement value group, measurement value, dimension, attribute, hierarchy, KPI, operation, and computing member) in a specific language). Translation to client applications supporting multiple languages Program Provides server support. With this client, the client can pass the region settings identifier (lcid) to the Analysis Services instance, this instance uses lcid to determine which translation group to use when providing metadata for analysis services objects. If the analysis services object does not contain the translation of the language or the translation of the specified object, the default language is used when the object metadata is returned to the client. For example, if a French business user accesses a multi-dimensional dataset from a workstation set in the French region, the business user will see the French member title and member attribute value when there is a French translation. However, if a German business user accesses the same cube from a workstation in the German region, the business user will see the German Member title and member attribute value.
In the dimension designer of the corresponding dimension"Translation"Tab and in the cube designer"Translation"Tab defines the translation of dimension metadata. You can use the dimension designer's"Translation"Tab, not only for the property title, but also for the title definition translation of the member represented by this property. For more information, see , , .
In this topic task, define metadata translation for a limited set of dimension objects in the "time" dimension and Multidimensional Dataset objects in the analysis services tutorial cube. Then, you can browse these dimensions and Multidimensional Dataset objects to check the metadata translation.
