A partner asked the following questions at the AdSense Optimization Conference held in Wuhan on April 9, October this year.
"In the past, three groups of advertisement units were placed on each webpage of our website. Later, one group was removed due to layout adjustment, and thus the advertising revenue increased. Why is the advertising revenue increasing as the number of advertisements decreases ?"
Many publishers may have the same problem as the publisher. Is it true that the more advertising units, the better? Isn't the AdSense optimization team recommended to serve multiple advertising units? Why is the income of an advertising unit sometimes increased?
In fact, this involves two deciding factors of advertising revenue-the balance between the number of ad clicks and the advertising price. Generally, multiple advertising units can display more advertisements on your website. This increases the number of ad clicks to increase your revenue. At the same time, because advertisements are displayed at a bidding price, if the webpage content is not rich and there are too many advertisements, low-price advertisements will be displayed on your website and may occupy a good advertising position, in this way, the location where high-price advertisements should be displayed shows low-price advertisements, and your income will be reduced.
Therefore, there is no final conclusion on how many advertisement units are put on the webpage, but it depends on whether your webpage content is rich. For webpages with rich content, three advertisement units may also be displayed with high bids. For webpages with few content, one advertisement unit may be the best. As for how many web pages should be put on, you also need to try different quantities and use custom channels to track the effect, so as to find the most suitable number of advertisement units for you.
In addition, please note that your income is not determined by the number of advertising units. The size, position, and other factors of advertising units often have a more significant impact than the number of advertising units. In many cases, an advertisement unit with good size and location brings you more revenue than two advertisement units with poor size or location.
We still want to talk about what kind of advertisement sizes, positions, and numbers are better for your website. You need to try them yourself. In the next few weeks, our blog will introduce optimization techniques for factors such as the advertisement format and position.
