AutoCAD Style and line width

Author: User

In the examples in the previous chapter, the article uses the line-style and linewidth to set the properties of the object, and the concepts and functions of the line-style and linewidth in AutoCAD are described in detail below.

Concept and application of 9.1.1 line

1. The concept of line style

Line Style (Linetype) is the point, horizontal line and space, and so on according to a certain pattern of repeated appearance of patterns, complex style can also contain a variety of symbols. If you specify a line style for a drawing object, the object is displayed and printed according to the settings for that line style.

2. Type of line

When a user creates a new graphics file, it typically includes the following three line styles:

(1) "Bylayer (with Layer)": logical style, which indicates that the object is consistent with the line style of the layer on which it resides.

(2) "Byblock (With Block)": Logical style, which indicates that the object is consistent with the line style of the block in which it resides.

(3) "Continuous (continuous)": continuous solid line.

Of course, users can use more than just these types of line. The AutoCAD system provides a line-style library file, which contains dozens of types of line definitions. Users can load the file at any time and use it to define a variety of line styles. If these lines still do not meet the needs of the user, the user can define a certain type of line, and in AutoCAD to use. The definition of line style is detailed in chapter 32nd.

3. The setup of line style

The user can use the "linetype" command to make line-style settings, which are invoked as follows:

Toolbar: "Object Properties" →

Menu: Format (format) → Linetype ... (Line Style) "

Command line: Linetype (or alias LT, Ltype, Ddltype)

When this command is invoked, the Linetype manager (Line manager) dialog box pops up, as shown in Figure 9-1.

The specific descriptions of the items in this dialog box are as follows:

(1) "Linetype Filters (line filter)": Determines which line styles can be displayed in the line-style list, including "Show All linetypes (display all styles)", "shows all used Linetype (shows all used lines)" and " Show all Xref dependent linetypes (shows all dependencies on external reference style) ".

(2) "Invert Filter (Reverse filter)": When selected, displays all line styles that do not meet the requirements of the filter in the line-style list.

(3) "Current Linetype": Displays the name of the current line style.

(4) Line Style list: Displays the line style and its basic information that satisfies the filter condition, including "Linetype (line Style)" (that is, line name), "appearance (appearance)" and "Description (description)" and so on.
