1. Priority rpm
Since RPM and Yum can be easier to install and remove and upgrade, it also provides query and validation features, as well as the assurance of digital certificates at installation, so it is preferred.
2. Select the RPM or the provided container site on the official software website
If you have an R container site, you can modify the Yum settings file to join the container so that it can be installed and upgraded automatically.

When we want new software and worry about having problems with the new software after installation and can't get back to the old software, we can use Tarball to install it into/usr/local so that the software can install two versions at the same time. And most of the time it doesn't interfere with each other.
