Mozilla Firefox seems to be hard to escape. On the one hand, Microsoft has laid an unshakable position for Internet Explorer by virtue of its inherent advantages. On the other hand, Google Chrome is also a new force in the browser industry, its unstoppable momentum has put a lot of pressure on Firefox. In short, the most popular Firefox in the open-source community will soon be forgotten by history. The recent discord in the Mozilla camp is also one of the main reasons I have come to the conclusion above-they provide a constant excuse for the delayed release of Firefox.

Frankly speaking, due to the popularity of third-party plug-ins, Firefox has over-developed the third-party plug-ins when the core architecture is not mature. As a result, the version planned to be released is postponed, there are more and more errors in the development process.

Recently, I also heard that Mozilla intends to abandon the version release process that it has been using and instead adopt the version increment release method (for example, v3.5.1 is updated to v3.5.2 ), in this way, security patches and other updates can be maintained smoothly. In other words, Mozilla engineers have already defaulted to release a fully developed and tested product in time with these resources.

Without large-scale tests on new versions, releasing many small versions often results in disastrous consequences. For the current situation, Firefox's senior leadership are to blame. IE is the flagship product in the implementation of Microsoft's network application strategy. Whether IT is good or bad, the fact is: as long as the company's IT department adopts Microsoft's technology, it is inevitable that Microsoft will encounter IE (from this perspective, Microsoft's strategy is successful ).

At the same time, Chrome is also a key part of Google's Global Strategy (indicating that Google, like Microsoft, also has a clear strategy ). In contrast, Firefox does not have a clear road map, which is probably the crux of further development. Firefox is a browser that depends entirely on the interests of its supporters. For Firefox, the facts are already in sight.

The current situation is that Chrome continues its strong journey. At the same time, in order to curb the threat that Google has posed to it, Microsoft will shift its focus from maintaining IE to actively developing browsers. As a result, Firefox will feel like it has suffered from a strong crowd, and it is a real enemy.

Firefox, however, seems to be tough in the next days ......
