Common tips for selecting cells in Excel

1, when selecting a smaller range of cells, you can use the mouse to operate; If you select a larger range of cells, and more than the scope of the program window display, the use of keyboard operation will be more convenient and quick. Click the Select cell in the worksheet, such as the A1 cell here, and press shift+→ to reach the F1 cell, and the contiguous range of cells A1 to the F1 cell is selected, as shown in Figure 1. When you press shift+↓, you can select a contiguous range of rectangular cells, as shown in Figure 2.

2, select a cell in the worksheet, such as select A1 cell, press Shift+pagedown key, you will be able to page down to expand the selection, as shown in Figure 3, select a cell in the worksheet, such as the E2 cell, press Shift+home key, The A2 to E2 cell will be selected, as shown in Figure 4.

Tip: To select a contiguous range of cells, you can also use the following method. Click the first cell in the upper-left corner of the range of cells you want to select, and hold down the left mouse button to drag the mouse down to the last cell in the range of cells. You can also shift-click the last cell in the lower-right corner of a range of cells after you select the first cell in the upper-left corner of a range of cells.

3. If you need to select more than one contiguous range of cells, you can use the following procedure. Press the CTRL key, click the cell you want to select, and the cells will be selected, as shown in Figure 5. When you select a range of cells, press the SHIFT+F8 key, and you can add the newly selected range of cells to an existing selection without canceling the obtained selections, as shown in Figure 6.

Tip: When you press Shift+f8 to enter a multiple-selection state, pressing the ESC key exits this selection.

4. Click the row or column labels on the worksheet to select the entire row or column, such as clicking the column label in column C to select the column, as shown in Figure 7. Select any cell and press Shift+space to select the entire row that contains the cell, as shown in Figure 8.

Tip: After you select a row or column, press the SHIFT key and the arrow keys to select multiple contiguous rows or columns. You can select more than one row or column by pressing the CTRL key and then clicking the line number or column label.

5. Select a column in the worksheet and press ctrl+shift+← to select all columns from the column to the first column, as shown in Figure 9. By pressing the ctrl+shift+→ key, you can select all columns to the right starting from the currently selected column, as shown in Figure 10.

Tip: When you select a row, pressing the ctrl+shift+↑ key selects all rows from the current line, and pressing the ctrl+shift+↓ key selects all rows from the current line to the beginning. These shortcuts also apply to the selection of contiguous cells.

6, if you need to select the range of data in the worksheet, you can select any one of the data cells in the range, press the ctrl+* key, as shown in Figure 11.

7. Click the Select All button on the worksheet between the row number and the column label to quickly select all the cells, as shown in Figure 12.

Tip: Select a cell with no data on the worksheet and press CTRL + A to select all the cells in the worksheet. If you press CTRL + A When you select a cell that contains data, only the data range is selected.

8. When the data area in the worksheet is large, it is not convenient to navigate to the edge cell of the range by moving the cursor or scroll bar. At this point, you can select a data cell in the data range, pressing the CTRL key and the arrow keys to quickly navigate to the edge cell of the data area. If you select a cell and press ctrl+→, you can navigate to the rightmost cell in the row of the cell in the data area, as shown in Figure 13.

Tip: Pressing the ctrl+← key will enable you to navigate to the leftmost cell of the row where you select the cell. Pressing the ctrl+↑ and ctrl+↓ keys will enable you to quickly navigate to the topmost or bottom cell of the column where you select the cell.

9. Select a range of cells in the current worksheet, as shown in Figure 14. Ctrl-click the sheet tabs, and the same range of cells in those worksheets is selected. Select the corresponding cell range for Sheet2, as shown in Figure 15.
