ADSL Access Mode virtual dial-up access

ADSL virtual dial-up access, as its name implies, is the same as normal 56 k modem dial-up operations, there are Account Verification, IP Address allocation, and other processes. However, ADSL is not connected to a specific ISP access number such as 00163 or 00169, but to a server connected to a VPC through ADSL access. According to different network types, there are two types: ADSL virtual dial-up access and Ethernet LAN virtual dial-up. The LAN virtual dial-up method has the features of simple installation and maintenance.

PPPoE

At present, it has become the mainstream of ADSL Access Mode virtual dialing and has its own set of network protocols for Account Verification and IP Address allocation. This is the mainstream PPPoE protocol for ADSL Access Mode virtual dialing applications, PPPoE is a Point-to-Point communication Protocol based on LAN ), this Protocol is the latest standard developed to meet the needs of more and more broadband Internet access devices and faster network communication.

PPPoE is based on two widely accepted standards: Lan Ethernet and PPP point-to-point dialing protocol. For end users, they do not need to understand the LAN technology, but simply use it as a general dial-up Internet access. for service providers, there is no need to spend a huge amount of money on large-scale transformation based on the existing LAN, allows you to bind an IP address to a user. This makes PPPoE more advantageous than other protocols in broadband access services. Therefore, it has gradually become the best choice for broadband Internet access.

PPPoE is essentially a relay protocol between the Ethernet and the dial-up network. It inherits the advantages of Ethernet fast and simple PPP dialing, user verification, and IP Address allocation. In practical application, PPPoE uses the working mechanism of the Ethernet to interconnect 10 m interfaces of the adsl modem with the internal Ethernet, in the adsl modem, The RFC1483 bridge encapsulation method is used to encapsulate the PPP packets sent by the terminal through LLC/SNAP, connect the two ends of the PVC to establish a connection between the adsl modem and the broadband access server on the network side to achieve dynamic PPP access.

PPPoE access uses a PVC between the network side and the adsl modem to achieve the joint access of multiple users on the Ethernet network, which is practical and convenient. The actual networking mode is also very simple, greatly reduces the complexity of the network. PPPoE has these features, so it has become the mainstream access protocol for broadband access in the current ADSL access mode. Currently, all virtual dialing is based on this protocol.

ADSL Access Mode leased line access

The leased line access method of ADSL is another method of ADSL access. Different from the virtual dialing method, the access method using the TCP/IP protocol is similar to that of the leased line, after the user connects to and configures the adsl modem, set the corresponding TCP/IP protocol, network parameter IP address, mask, and gateway in the network settings of your PC. The IP address and gateway are allocated by the local terminal in advance, the client and the local server automatically establish a link.

Therefore, the leased line access mode of ADSL is similar to that of a leased line with fixed IP addresses and automatic connections. The fixed IP address ADSL leased line access method is generally used by ISPs in the broadband applications of high-demand Internet cafes and large and medium-sized enterprises. The fee is generally higher than the virtual dialing method, therefore, individual users are rarely considered.

Local Network access through ADSL

Local Area Network (LAN) access is only an extension of the ADSL access mode by the ISP in ADSL virtual dialing and leased line access. As you know, you can use the following three methods to enable local network access for ADSL:

Add a 10 MB or 10/100 MB adaptive Nic to the server and connect the adsl modem to this Nic using the network cable provided by the MODEM. At this time, there should be two NICs on the server, connect the adsl modem and the LAN. You only need to install and set up proxy server software on this computer, such as Windows ICS, Sygate, Wingate, and other software, to share the internet.

The physical connection is used to apply for one IP address from the telephone Bureau for each computer on the LAN. The advantage of this method is that you do not need to set up a dedicated proxy service gateway. The defect is that the cost is high. Start the routing functions of some Ethernet interfaces in the ADSL access mode, and connect the network cable connected to the adsl modem directly to the UP-LINK port of the switch through the shared Internet access through the switch. The advantage of this method is that the number of LAN computers is unlimited, and only one more switch is needed.

Many ISPs use the third method to provide broadband services. This is the ADSL Access Method for LAN access. It directly installs the ADSL cat, which is supposed to be installed in the user's home, in the residential corridor, then, a 16-32 switch and RJ45 network cable are connected to the computer network card of each user's home. Each user no longer needs to be equipped with a separate ADSL access mode, which saves the investment of adsl modem, you only need a network card on your computer to connect to the access network. After the network card is connected, you can access the Internet at any time. In addition, this method is also used by broadband access methods such as PLC power line access.

The comparison of the differences and differences between the ADSL access methods has been completed. I hope you can understand them.
