Compiling a 64-bit application using vs2008,vs2010

To compile an application that generates a 64-bit, you must set the VS2008, or VS2010 Configuration Manager to x64.

If your configuration Manager does not have this option x64, then you may not have this component installed when you install vs. You do not have to uninstall VS, just open your original installation package, install the X64 compilation, link components and so on.
