Differences between vswitches and vrouters

First, the layers of work are different. switches work on the data link layer, routers work on the network layer, and of course there are layer-3 switches.

Second, the switch works at the data link layer to identify MAC addresses for data forwarding, while the router works at the network layer to Route Data Based on IP addresses.

Third: the router provides the firewall function. Of course, it depends on the filtering of packet IP addresses and packet analysis.

Fourth, broadcast data packets are not transmitted through routers, reducing communication congestion and security vulnerabilities.
