Experience on using USB mouse

I have purchased the Logitech set for some time, including the gunner keyboard, a USB interface (and one USB-to-PS2 adapter and one PS2-to-at adapter) optical wheel mouse and driveProgramCD. Unexpectedly: The old revolution encountered a new problem! Now I will write down my experience for the reference of many computer enthusiasts!

It turns out that I have been using the PS2 interface mouse, so I started to connect the USB interface mouse to The PS2 interface with the adapter. It is comfortable to feel, shine and clear (transparent at the bottom) positioning is accurate, and it feels great! Later, I reinstalled the system and used WINXP, which is popular nowadays. The original driver cannot be used under XP, and I am too lazy to go down to the new driver of the Logitech mouse, just unplug the adapter and use the USB interface. Haha ......, Even if the driver is not installed, WINXP automatically identifies it as "Mouse and other pointer devices" → "Logitech USB wheelmouse" and "Ergonomic input device" → "Logitech USB wheelmouse ". After the CD driver is installed in Win98, the system recognizes it as "hid-compliant wheelmouse" and "USB wheelmouse". It can be seen that WINXP has its unique characteristics. Unfortunately, either WINXP or Win98, or even Linux, there is such a phenomenon: after Shutdown and then reboot, or even sometimes restart, the USB mouse was so strange that it didn't shine and didn't respond!

In this case, it is difficult for me to be confident. Follow the "soft first and hard" principle. In WINXP, use the keyboard: Press win to open the "Start" menu, and press the "unlock" arrow to select "Control Panel ", press the Enter key to open the control panel, press the tab key to move the cursor to the performance and maintenance item, and press the Enter key. In the "performance and maintenance" window, use the "tab" key to move the cursor to the "System" item and press the Enter key to open the item. In the displayed "System Properties" dialog box, use the "→" arrow key to select the "hardware" tab, move the cursor to "Device Manager" with the "tab" key, and press the Enter key to open the tab. At this time, we can see that there is a yellow exclamation mark in front of the "Ergonomic input device" → "Logitech USB wheelmouse", indicating that the USB mouse is not correctly installed! Of course, you must reinstall the mouse driver! In Device Manager, press the tab key to move the cursor to the computer device box, and then press the unlock arrow to select the Logitech USB wheelmouse with a yellow exclamation mark ", press "delete" to uninstall the device. In the displayed "Confirm device deletion" dialog box, press the Enter key "OK ". Press the "Alt + A" key to open the "Operation (a)" menu of "Device Manager" and select "Scan detection hardware changes ()...", Press the Enter key to re-enable WINXP scan to detect the USB mouse and install the mouse driver. After the new hardware is installed, you can usually use a USB mouse. If the above method is too difficult, you can use the hot swapping USB mouse to re-Identify the installation of the system. However, it is also annoying if you often do this. Coincidentally, This is my "machine! It seems that we have to consider it from other aspects! My machine configuration: c ii 633 + Asus TUSL2-C motherboard + maxtor 20G hard drive + small movie overlord speed with 3000 graphics card + innovative vibra128 sound card + ECOM 56hcf modem + LG 40x optical drive + Sony 1.44m soft drive. There is no problem with the PS2 mouse. It is estimated that there is a resource conflict or a problem with BIOS settings!

First, check the BIOS settings. There are two items about USB settings:

1. Under the "advanced menu" sub-menu "PCI configuration", the "USB function" item is set to "enabled" by default;

2. There is a "USB legacy support" under the "advanced menu" menu, which is set to "Auto" by default. It seems to be correct.

However, I still checked the motherboard User Manual. The above instructions: if you use a USB keyboard and/or mouse, you must set this item to enabled. Otherwise, the system will not be able to boot normally. But after I change it, the problem persists! View resource conflicts, and choose Start> All Programs (p)> accessories> System Tools> system information ", in "Conflicts/sharing" under "hardware resources", IRQ 3 (Interrupt number) is replaced by Intel (r) 82801ba/Bam USB universal host controller-2442 (that is, the USB interface controller plugged in by my mouse) and "communication port (com2)" are shared, and no conflict is displayed! But maybe the problem lies in this place. Considering the com2 port is useless, disable it and try again. The problem is solved!

Through this experience, I have summarized some experiences:

1. When using a USB device, check whether the USB items in the BIOS are correctly set. For USB keyboard or USB mouse, note that there are special settings unrelated to this in the BIOS.

2. USB mouse has its own advantages. Like most USB devices, drivers must be correctly installed, however, newer operating systems such as WINXP and newer Linux versions support USB mouse.

3. To enable better hardware support for USB devices, consider upgrading the motherboard BIOS.

4. As an old bird, you must learn the general method of operating windows with a keyboard. Otherwise, you will be dumpfounded if you encounter problems like me!
