Automatically add filters
Although the filtering method above is powerful, it may be difficult for the novice, but the Vista Explorer also offers a more convenient way of automatic filtering.
Again, after filtering out all the results files in the show's for menu, we don't have to add filters by hand, just click on the name, Size, Date taken, and so on, to set up the filter in the toolbar. Here's a question, if you need to filter the properties do not show here what to do? In fact, it is also very simple, as long as the right side of these names in the margin right click, you can then pop-up menu to choose to show or hide a property (Figure 8), of course, select More (more) commands can also choose other less commonly used properties.
The options in this menu are related to the contents of the file under the current folder. For example, if all the pictures are saved in the current folder, the contents of the menu are nothing more than the date, keywords, resolution, or even the options for photographing the camera model, and so on, if all the music files are saved under the current folder, The contents of the menu will then become the music-related options for the track name, album name, singer name, genre, year, and so on.
Let's say we need to filter the file by the time this property is taken, and this property is already displayed in the Explorer window, and clicking on this property shows the interface shown in Figure 9. As you may have noticed, the bottom of the pop-up menu shown in the figure has two options for September 2004 and September 2003, in which case the two options show the modified date of all the pictures under the current folder. If you want to see only the files that have been modified for a certain date, just select the appropriate check box.
It is also worth mentioning here that the folder shown in Figure 9 above contains a total of three photos taken at different times, September 20, 2003, and September 15, 2004 and 30th, although there are three of them, But Vista is smart enough to show only a larger span of time as an option. In fact, Vista's intelligence is still very high, for example, it can even show "this Week", "Last week", "this month," This time-dependent logical relationship.
Also note that the top of the pop-up menu shown in Figure 9 has a sort (sort) button that arranges all the files according to the date they were taken. The Stack (Collation) button to the right of "Sort", after clicking, allows all files under the current folder to be grouped into different virtual folders for us to view at the time of the modification. Group (Group) button to arrange all files in groups by modified date. In fact, these three actions are also located in the right mouse button menu (Figure 10).
Vista in the resource manager aspects of the improvement there are many, but limited to the length of the relationship, and then have the opportunity to introduce to you. In fact, these features for users accustomed to the old version of Windows is still unfamiliar, after all, many of their own has been accustomed to the operation has changed. However, it can be seen that Microsoft has done a lot of work in this respect, as long as they can adapt to this new mode of operation, then the efficiency of the improvement is obvious.
