Firefox faces an uncertain future after its contract with Google expires

Many Firefox users don't know how the company makes profits. Most of its revenue-about $0.1 billion a year-comes from Google, because Firefox uses Google's search engine on the default homepage and search box.

However, this agreement has expired, and it is clear that no one from Mozilla or Google has confirmed whether the agreement has been renewed. I believe that Google is willing to renew it at the right price, but Chrome is currently undermining Firefox's market share. For Gogole, Firefox is no longer worth the original value.

To prevent Microsoft from signing this Agreement to promote its Bing, Google may be worth signing it. Because if someone is willing to spend less than enough money to buy this market share, it would be Bing. Considering the history of Firefox and IE, it would be a pleasure if Microsoft had signed the agreement to sponsor Firefox development.

I felt a little sad about Firefox. It was once very powerful, breaking the rules of the IE age and saving many Web developers. Now, it has become a bloated and slow monster, making Web developers uncomfortable.

It has a good reason to lose to Chrome in market share. Firefox has no position in the mobile field, and most of the growth and behavior are happening in this field. In most other platforms, it also fails.

I'm not sure about the future of Firefox. Although it can be used as an edge browser for a long time, like Opera, I don't see any hope it can increase its market share again.
