User Information

$ git config--global user.name "John Doe" $ git config--global user.email [email protected]

Text Editor

Now that the user information is set up, you can configure the default text editor, which is called when Git needs you to enter information. If not configured, Git uses the operating system's default text editor, usually Vim. If you want to use a different text editor, such as Emacs, you can do this:

$ git config--global core.editor emacs

Check configuration information

$ git config--list
