How Photoshop adds a misplaced square effect to a photo

First look at the original image:

Effect Chart:

Open the original image with Photoshop, then ctrl+j the layer, then create a blank layer between the two layers and fill it with white.

Select the copied layer, which is layer 1, and then press M to use the rectangular marquee tool and press SHIFT to select a square area.

Then add a mask to the layer.

Cancels the connection to the mask.

Then add an outer glow style.

Copy the layer and move the location using the Move tool.

Also copy more, move position.

Final effect.

Then adjust some of the squares smaller.

Final effect.

Flatten all layers and select Apply a mask before merging. Finally, the projection effect is set.
