The pace of the city is getting faster, we will face new changes every day, no area is more than the enterprise IT industry to reflect this. Because evolution is the natural attribute of science and technology, enterprises have to continue to develop in order to face the growth of business needs, in which the network wiring of data center is also worthy of attention.

Data Center network Cabling is the cornerstone of supporting business requirements, we will encounter countless design solutions and solutions in the wiring process. This article is to help you decide the most suitable wiring scheme for your computer room.

1, the appropriate wiring design

Efficient cabling requirements are meticulous in planning and design. In the data Center standard TIA-942, there are five key functional areas in the data center:

Access Room (entrance Room, referred to as ER)--device access to the data center entrance.

Primary distribution (main distribution area, MDA)-this area prevents devices such as routers, LANs, and San switches.

Horizontal distribution (horizontal distribution area, abbreviation HDA)--Communication room

Regional distribution (Zone distribution area, abbreviated Zda) (optional)--the integration point of all data Center network cabling and switches.

Equipment Range (equipment distribution area, referred to as EDA)--The main server areas, racks and cabinets are placed.

Data center network wiring design mainly has two kinds: main trunk wiring and horizontal wiring. The horizontal cabling supports mechanical termination, jumper and horizontal cross connections with HDA, and can also connect Zda or EDA. Horizontal wiring can be fiber, copper or both. Main trunk Wiring simplifies the design of network cabling in data center, supports jumper, mechanical termination, and can be crossed by main area to different area of data center, which is helpful for management. However, the main route wiring in the Distributed data center topology, to face the challenge of supporting multiple access.

ER > MDA > HDA > Zda > EDA

In addition to the above two, there is also a possible wiring is the area wiring. By some means you can integrate all the connections in the data center into one area. You can connect blocks or strip. The problem is that this can lead to significant migration steps and additional costs, resulting in increased costs. And in this way it is not good to design wiring in the cross connector channel. More Wonderful content: http://www.bianceng.cn/Network/zhbx/

Cabling Path

Design paths need to be maintained and changed at all times. The scheme can be tracked and solved in the air without affecting the product shop. For the path, generally recommend the top of the cabinet wiring. However, the unsuitable cabinet top wiring path may affect the heat outlet and distribution.

If you plan to use the top of the cabinet, all wiring should be integrated into a switch rack. Make sure the rack ends or the integration points are properly designed. This can be done by evaluating the need for fiber cabling and copper cabling, as well as choosing the right connectors and terminator.

2. Space planning

For space planning, many enterprises consider a central patch area, or a separate swap blade for each server cabinet patching. The former is preferable because it can run all fiber or copper cables from the core HDA and EDA to the central patching area. Central patching eliminates the complexity of hardware changes and reduces physical access to the system. If your industry is focused on consistency and security-related issues, this is a perfect solution. You can also add a smart patch to the patch area, automatic monitoring and tracking to increase security. In addition, all purchased ports are available. VLANs can also be used to separate your network.

Selecting a separate swap blade dedicated to each server cabinet may cause resources to be underutilized. If the server NIC is not utilized, the port becomes inefficient and costly. For example, if you have only six servers, each with only two connected cabinets dedicated to 48-port blades, then the other 36 ports and their maintenance is wasted. But with the central patching area, additional ports can also be leveraged elsewhere on the network.

Another option is to have all server cabinets and switch cabinets in one column end up with a separate package area, rather than in a central area. This allows you to move the central connection from the primary distribution to the encapsulated area. If you are a service provider, this may be to your liking.

3. Media Selection

The difficulty lies in the details. You need to revisit the cable type-copper, multimode fiber or Single mode cable. You also need to evaluate the terminator for each connection. The demand for hardware in the datacenter is growing, as is the demand for energy refrigeration, and you have to consider these factors. If you are negligent, external crosstalk (the electromagnetic noise emitted in the cable) is a problem.

Data center network cabling is based on simple and tangled details and is often overlooked. Every data center person knows that copper wires can easily bend and affect transmission. Can a good wiring design avoid this? Of course! But has anyone ever taken it seriously? That's too little.
