How to: Use the Sharepoint Server's transfer out email function to integrate the Exchange Server

If an enterprise has Exchange servers and SharePoint servers, the best way is to deploy them separately.

Because SharePoint's incoming email function uses the SMTP of Windows 2003 on the Sharepoint Server.

 

Environment: 1 company email address format: Recipient @ company.com

2 domains: company.net

3. Exchange Server oa.company.net Moss server oss.company.net

4. The firewall has mapped port 25 to oa.company.net.

5. The MX record of Company domain name company.com points to the IP address of the company firewall Internet.

 

The following describes how to integrate an enterprise's internal exchange server with a Sharepoint Server:

 

1. Install the SMTP service for Windows 2003 on the moss server.

 

2. In this SMTP service, configure an individual domain, which is company.com.

 

3. Set forwarding to on the Exchange Server, "Exchange System Manager"-> "server"-> "protocol"-> "SMTP" under "Default SMTP virtual server" right-click and select "properties ", on the "mail" tab, enter "oss.company.net" in "send all emails with unresolved recipients to the following hosts.

 

4. Select "Moss Management Center"> "incoming email" to enable this function. Select "no" for "Directory management. Email Address: company.com.
