Text-overflow has two attributes:
Clip simple cut text
Ellipsis displays ellipsis after cut text
Using text-overflow in a div alone is ineffective. The following two must be used together:
White-space: nowrap force do not wrap
Overflow: hidden overflow
For example:
<Div style = "width: 200px; height: 25px; text-overflow: ellipsis; white-space: nowrap; overflow: hidden"> People's Republic of China </div>
You can also write a css style, and the class references it.
<Style type = "text/css">
. Mydiv {
Text-overflow: ellipsis;
White-space: nowrap;
Overflow: hidden;
Width: 200px; height: 25px;
}
</Style>
Then:
<Div class = "mydiv"> People's Republic of China </div>
