HTML5 can be used to hide malicious programs
Italian researchers published a report on this website, proposing a new code obfuscation technology that can be used to successfully launch a smuggling download attack and cheat malicious program detection system. The new obfuscation technology is based on HTML5 and uses multiple JavaScript-based HTML5 APIs. The researchers said the malicious program obfuscated code is stored on the server. Once the victim accesses a malicious webpage, the malicious program will download, reassemble, and start. Their research aims to encourage security companies to develop a countermeasure against such attacks.
