Solution to installing VMware Tools with Ubuntu:

1. Set root permissions

The root permission is disabled by default in Ubuntu, so the first step of installation is to enable the root permission. The specific method is:

Open the terminal first: after entering the Ubuntu system, there is a tag in the upper left corner of the desktop: Application-attachment-terminal.

Enter sudo Su in the terminal

Press enter and enter the current user password to enter the root permission.

Solution 2: Install VMware Tool

First, go to the Ubuntu system and click the VMware Workstation menu: VM --- install VMware Tools. a cd icon is created on the Ubuntu system desktop, the Installation File of VMware tool is loaded into the Ubuntu optical drive.

Enter the following command in the terminal:

Switch to the VMware Tools directory

CD/CDROM/VMware Tools(Here, the VMware license file is not found in CDROM in my system, instead of in VMware Tools.

Copy the beibeivmwarw.ls-6.0.0-55017.tar.gz file to the root directory.

CP VMwareTools-6.0.0-55017.tar.gz/

Note: different versions of VMware may have different file names.

Switch to the root directory

CD/

Run the extract command to decompress the tar package.

Tar vzxf VMwareTools-6.0.0-55017.tar.gz

Switch to the vmware-tools-distrib directory

CD vmware-tools-distrib/

Install VMware Tools

/Vmware-install.pl

Press enter to install VMware Tools on Ubuntu.
