A Installation
- Server-side installation can select "Full".
- The installation path is consistent with the VSS installation path at the time of localization.
Two VSS Server-side configuration 2.1 Setting up shared files
1. Create a new folder in any location on your computer and set it to share. Properties-Advanced Sharing-permissions, share the name of the folder that the user who is connected to this computer sees.
Note: Be sure to check the "change" permission so that users can connect to this computer to see this folder.
2.2 Creating a new database management
1. Open "Microsoft Visual SourceSafe Administration (Mvssa)" and click "File-New database".
2. Select "Lock-Modify-Unlock model"
Note: Click the "Browse" button to select the folder you want to share the new database with.
2.3 Account Management
1. It is recommended that you delete the Administrator and Guest accounts and then add the required accounts yourself.
2. Under Tools-Options-permissions, you can change the permissions for the new user.
The password for the 3.Admin administrator is initially empty.
2.4 Changing the server configuration
"Server-Configuration", tick the following three options.
Three VSS Client Logon
- Set the password to be entered every time you log in (default automatic login, no password), tools-Options-General
- Set which database to connect to, click "Browse", enter the IP address where the VSS server is located, select the Srcsafe.ini file
