The requirements of Intelligent network

User Management humanization. Network user management has become an indispensable part of the intelligent network, especially in the current network security, trade secret security and intellectual property has been highly valued today. But security and network openness, ease of use, humanization is contradictory. All these have put forward the high request to how to choose the user management way of the network effectively.

Network Maintenance automation. A good and unified network management platform, can monitor the operation of each equipment in time, the failure of a certain intelligent adjustment ability, can automatically switch to standby scheme, standby equipment, and alarm, can provide a perfect running record, can provide a detailed reference for troubleshooting.

Four capabilities of Intelligent switch

At present, with the rise of the concept of intelligence, playing a "smart" banner of products emerge. Permissions settings and access control capabilities

Permission setting and access control are the important functions of intelligent network. Access control ACLs based on VLAN and three-layer exchange belong to workgroup-level access control, which can be used to control the access of different TCP ports or protocols as well as data transfer direction, thus restricting the access of local area network resources strictly. Some of the more advanced access control features, such as radius and AAA, have recently been integrated into some smart switches to enable user-based authentication and access control.

Network monitoring and management capabilities

SNMP-based network management has become the consensus of the industry, the enterprise or service provider a key requirement is to complete access to business trends and analysis capabilities, through the RMON function, can achieve this goal. Another requirement for comprehensive traffic analysis is the ability to mirror traffic to the probe or protocol analyzer. With the smart mirroring feature, you can send all traffic from one port or VLAN to a user-specified port for in-depth analysis.

Support for quality of service (QoS)

The most common QoS technologies currently available are IntServ (RSVP) and DiffServ two ways. The former uses resource reservation way, can not realize the sharing of bandwidth, easy to cause the waste of line resources, only suitable for simpler network topology. Therefore, it is best for users to adopt DiffServ switches to achieve End-to-end QoS. Support for multimedia data transmission

IGMP has become a necessary basic function of intelligent switches. But for the three-layer switch, in addition to rip, OSPF and other unicast routing protocols, also began to support DVMRP, PIM SM/DM Multicast routing protocol. Among them, DVMRP is equivalent to the RIP protocol of unicast, which is suitable for small-scale network applications, while PIM is a protocol-independent multicast routing protocol, which is divided into dense mode (DM) and sparse mode (SM). DM is mainly applicable to large network bandwidth, user distribution more concentrated occasions, such as the company's local area network; SM is mainly used in the case of small network bandwidth and sparse user distribution, such as WAN or Internet.

Intelligence goes to the edge of the network

After the advent of intelligent switches, not only has firmly occupied the network core position, and is gradually advancing to the edge of the network. The traditional enterprise network only has the backbone to have the intelligence, convergence and edge are generally two-tier exchange, but with the wide depth of network applications, the original network model will bring a big problem: first, all three-tier exchange by the backbone of the switch to complete, the backbone of the switch to deal with a lot of pressure, And the backbone layer appears to deal with bottlenecks often affect the performance of the whole network; Secondly, the convergence and edge of a two-tier switch, can not block broadcast traffic and users intentional, unintentional network attacks and other packets, this will also bring the backbone layer to deal with bottlenecks, resulting in decreased performance.

Intelligence should be a rich architecture that extends from the core to the edge. The previous network is mainly for the connection, the network is mainly in the core of the use of now called intelligent products, while at the edge of the use of "fool" product line.
