License issuance is approaching the operator's start of a new round of 4G network construction

With the release of 4G licenses in China approaching, the three major operators began to accelerate their deployment. Following China Mobile launched a new round of TD-LTE equipment tender, recently, China Unicom, China Telecom also clearly said that the use of FDD-LTE/TD-LTE integrated networking. For a time, competition for 4G has once again heated up among the three major operators.

Mobile bidding amount exceeds 20 billion

According to China Mobile's bidding announcement, the collection involves 31 provinces and cities in China, and the procurement scale is about 0.207 million base stations, totaling 0.55 million fans.

The industry expects that the scale of the main equipment for this tender will be between 20 billion-25 billion yuan, and the construction mode will be based on co-site construction and co-site upgrade. The construction of TD-LTE base stations will be fully started in September at the latest. Different from the previous tender for TD-SCDMA equipment, the 4G tender China Mobile clearly requires not to accept agent tender, do not accept all key equipment are OEM equipment manufacturers tender. This will benefit Chinese manufacturers with core technologies.

As early as the beginning of this year, China Mobile made plans to implement 4G "Double Hundred" plan this year: TD-LTE network coverage will be more than 100 cities, TD-LTE terminal procurement will be more than 1 million, build the world's largest LTE network.

According to the previous China Mobile TD-LTE test network construction, in the frequency band is mainly used to 1900 MHz (F band), 2600 MHz (D band), 2300 MHz (E band ). The F-band is mainly upgraded, while the D-band is mainly new. If China Mobile selects F band, it will be advantageous to domestic manufacturers that account for a relatively large proportion in the TD-SCDMA market; and China Mobile will choose to create in D band, ericsson and Alcatel-Lucent hope to win more market share.

Li Yue, China Mobile's president, said China Mobile would push forward the TD-LTE process through new construction and upgrade, with more than 0.2 million base stations. Two ways of parallel promotion are adopted. The different proportions of the F-band and the D-band will also determine the distribution of interests of domestic and foreign manufacturers.

China Unicom dual-mode Integration

In addition to China Mobile's spare efforts, China Unicom and China Telecom, which have always focused on 3G development, began to show their attitudes towards 4G.

Lu Yimin, general manager of China Unicom, said that China Unicom is already conducting a fdd lte/TD-LTE fusion networking test, and the upgrade of WCDMA to fdd lte will be very smooth.

According to news, China Unicom and China Telecom's 4G network construction scheme should be the same, that is, to create a 4G core network, using FDD-LTE/TD-LTE integrated solution, connect the 3G core network and 4G network.

License Issuance now enters countdown

This year is known as the 4G first year in China. Since the beginning of this year, there has been a wave of calls for the issuance of 4G licenses. However, no substantive statement has been made by relevant departments so far, the issuance time and allocation method are delayed.

However, with the recent actions of the three major operators, the industry has once again come up with speculation about license issuance. Liu qicheng, editor-in-chief of China Telecom World Network, said there had been news that 4G licenses were issued at the end of the year, but from the current situation, the time may be earlier.
