Managed Navigation
In SharePoint, there are two navigation bars, one is the global navigation at the top and the other is the current navigation on the left. With the Managed Metadata Service, in addition to the traditional structured navigation, you can also use the ManagedMetadata Service to set the navigation.
Before use, make sure that Publishing feature is enabled at the Site Collection and Site levels. Below is the Site-level Feature:
The following shows the Feature at the Site Collection level:
Go to Site Settings and find Managed Navigation:
The default value is Structure Navigation. Select Managed Navigation:
To create a Term Set. This Term Set will specifically serve the navigation of this Site Collection.
Click Create Term Set. The following error may be displayed:
You need to make a setting in the Central Administration. Find the agent of the Managed Metadata Service Application. Note that the agent is not itself:
On the displayed page, select the following CheckBox:
Return to the Settings of the Site Collection and click "CREATE" to create a Term Set for the Site Collection. click the following link to open the Term Store Management Tool:
Create some terms in the Term Set of this Site Collection and make the appropriate options:
Used in global navigation or in current navigation
Link pointing
Open Site Collection again, and you can see that the created Term is displayed in the navigation bar.
