According to a three-month investigation by kantarworldpanel on smartphone buyers, about 2.5% of UK mobile phone Buyers chose the windowsphone operating system, the number of consumers who choose the Nokia Symbian operating system is only 2.4%. Stephen enelop, Nokia's chief executive, moved the system on Nokia's smartphone to windowsphone last year and believes it has long-term potential to create a "third ecosystem ", it can compensate for short-term Symbian sales losses. Google's Android and Apple IoS are still the most popular smartphones in the UK.
Dominicsunnebo, a London analyst at kantarworldpanel, believes: "with a mobile phone, sales of windowsphone phones have exceeded Symbian phones, which is encouraging. However, Nokia still needs to quickly expand its product range so that it can catch up with the various products that competitors will launch in the next quarter ."
According to the kantarworldpanel report, Symbian's UK market share fell to 12.4% in a year, and its market share in Germany, France and Australia also fell to single-digit.
