Run the following command to install the Windows Server BACKUP command line tool on the DC of Server 2008: wbadmin start systemstatebackup-backuptarget: e: (# Note: The following E: indicates the target drive letter to be backed up), as shown in: Server 2008 must specify the target volume when backing up, therefore, your DC must have a volume (except the system volume) used for the backup target.
