Openfire: Message Types of XMPP

XMPP has the following message types:

L normal

L chat

L groupchat

L headline

L Error

 

As explained in the official document (http://www.igniterealtime.org/builds/openfire/docs/3.3.2/documentation/javadoc/org/xmpp/packet/Message.Type.html), they are used as follows:

L normal-mail-like Interface

L chat-it is used for a typical line-to-line short message dialog interface.

L groupchat-group chat interface used for sending a message to the group Message Server

L headline-displays a text message in a scrollable display box.

L error-used to indicate error messages
