Personal websites lost in the post-SP era

On July 6, Cai Wensheng will hold another Chinese webmaster Conference in Xiamen. He was touched by the final invitation list.
Lao Cai was once the most famous personal webmaster in China. Although his website 265.com has received huge investment, with hundreds of employees and a foothold in Beijing's busiest CBD, it is no longer a small workshop in the past. However, he still enjoys the title of "personal webmaster". The annual Webmaster conference is also regarded as a feast of communication by many personal masters.

However, this year is somewhat different. Compared with last year, more than four individual webmasters have been removed from the invitation list. "Personal websites are quickly eliminated ." Lao Cai said with emotion to the Financial Times.

In fact, another Chinese "hardcore" webmaster is more chilling in this change.

Zhang Zhengjun, the network name "Tuwang", has been in the personal webmaster circle for many years and is very famous. However, he is pessimistic about the prospect of his personal website. On the webmaster's website (www.admin5.com), webmasters sell their websites at a low cost almost every day.
"Many webmasters have left this industry. Just like pagers exiting the historical stage, Chinese personal websites will also die in the next five years ." In March 19, Zhang Zhengjun spoke in less standard Mandarin on the phone. At the end of last year, he posted a similar post on the Internet, which caused a lot of controversy in the Chinese webmaster circle.
"Who killed the Webmaster? (Who killed my webmaster) "in January 2007, a well-known foreign blog also put forward a similar view. This blog argues that the division of labor for technological advances accelerates, and individual webmasters cannot be competent for all the work of the website. In particular, the rise of Web 2.0 allows people to create their own content. The result is "who else needs webmasters?"

However, compared with foreign countries, there are many differences in the experiences of Chinese personal websites.

Review previous "brilliant"
Compared to the "glorious" period of personal websites, many personal webmasters have the feeling of being different from the rest of the world. The contrast is indeed great.
Zhang Zhengjun recalled that his personal website was still very popular two years ago. In particular, websites such as Web sites, entertainment, and downloads, despite the flood of attacks, they still cannot block the enthusiasm of webmasters for plagiarism. "Because at that time, these websites were the easiest to get the traffic, and the traffic could directly generate revenue ."

Zhang Zhengjun started his website in 2002 and did not find that the website could make money. "Until one day, my image website reached 20 thousand IP traffic, and a lottery winner told me to invest 600 yuan in advertising every month ." After the money was credited to the bank card, Zhang Zhengjun checked it several times to believe it was true.
Subsequently, Zhang Zhengjun was disconnected and made up five or six Image websites. They exchanged traffic and received various advertisements. The list is small, but the list is quite impressive.
In fact, personal webmasters who experienced the network bubble in 2000 also found a similar way of making profits in 2003: After being banned by the government, find the profitable mode, such as click ads and sales traffic. But what crazes these personal webmasters most is the opportunity for SP to penetrate into the Internet.
