Previous articles introduced the basics of Wireless AP, the difference with wireless routers, and several modes of Wireless AP. Now we will introduce the principles of point-to-point wireless Bridging Mode for Wireless AP and detailed networking solutions.

The point-to-point bridging mode is mostly used for connecting two wired local networks through two aps to achieve wireless interconnection and resource sharing between two wired local networks, you can also expand the wired network. This mode is usually used when the distance between two LAN networks is not long, but it is inconvenient to connect to the LAN due to obstacles in the middle.

In this case, using wireless to replace wired connections is a simple and low-cost solution. Because the AP is usually placed outdoors and its environment is changeable, a dedicated outdoor Wireless AP is usually used and a dedicated oriented antenna is installed. High centralized and targeted transmission helps improve signal strength to ensure stability. Do not block obstacles between APs; otherwise, the attenuation will be severe.

The point-to-point bridging mode is shown in the following figure:

Point-to-Point wireless bridging mode is generally used to connect two networks located in different locations. Generally, it is composed of a pair of Wireless AP bridging devices and a pair of antennas. As mentioned above, the bridge Adapter should be set to the same frequency. It uses wireless signal transmitters and receivers, I .e. AP devices, to complete signal transmission and network formation in two networks. As long as AP devices are in the same frequency band, they can support the same standards, within the valid distance, the interconnection between two local networks can be realized conveniently.

Point-to-Point wireless bridging to build smart building networks

The point-to-point wireless bridging mode is widely used. In some cities, a river is in the center, so it is difficult to set up network lines. At this time, using AP wireless networks to connect networks on both sides of the Strait is a good choice and convenient, second, it saves the trouble of establishing lines. In some companies, office buildings are far apart. For example, two buildings are kilometers away, but they can see each other, in this case, the point-to-point bridging mode can save the long-term cost of renting a leased line. In the long run, it will also be of great benefit to the company's development. In the two networks located in different locations, the Wireless AP can be used to establish a wireless network connection because it is not easy to connect and the wiring cost is too high.

At present, lan interconnection between buildings has become an urgent issue for many organizations. A company may wish to connect adjacent production and transportation subnets and management centers; in the big school district, the independent internal LAN and Computing Center in the teaching building and Student Dormitory can connect students and teachers to the campus network and the Internet. In short, we all hope that the network can achieve LAN connection between two or more adjacent buildings, provide high-speed Interconnection Network Access, and implement mobile access to network services. According to the traditional idea, to achieve the interconnection of the two buildings, even if it is close at hand, it is also necessary to draw lines and use cables or lease lines. If conditions in the surrounding environment are met, the cable laying project may not be implemented; renting a DDN line may face many difficulties, such as high rental costs and low line bandwidth. However, now wireless technology has the answer to the above questions.

When using the point-to-point wireless bridging mode to establish two network connections, you must fully consider the size of the network to be connected, the complexity of the network, and the number of terminal devices. At the same time, you also need to consider the bandwidth requirements of the network connection and the distance between the two networks. After these factors are fully taken into account, the network connection plan and required devices can be developed. In AP devices, the network bandwidth and transmission signal distance supported by various devices are different. The prices of AP devices of different standard models are also different. We need to fully consider cost effectiveness and scalability. Scalability is also an important parameter for network construction. In the future, network expansion will not waste a lot of resources to maximize the utilization of network resources.
