TIPS: This tutorial repeatedly uses the use of selection and layer masks to convert a layer's selection directly into a selection in a layer mask. This tutorial is fully reflected. Anyway, this problem is more tangled, not the oneself pondering, will not ask Baidu, will not I have no way.

Hello, everyone! If this is your first time here, you may want to subscribe to the animated tutorials and rich resources that are constantly updated on the RSS feed. Today we're going to learn the art of using decadent textures to create beautiful style portraits, where we'll use the selection tools and mask tools more than once. This tutorial is mainly aimed at beginners who are close to intermediate level.

The material needed:
Lady Head
Splash Effect of brush
Black decadent Texture
First step
Open Lady Image in PS, click image > Image size. Adjust the image width to 2000px and ensure that you click on the lock scaling, as shown in Figure 1. At this point we will be aware that the picture is too large, it is difficult to find the same size texture picture.
Figure 1
Second Step
Use the Lasso tool to select the lady's head area and add a layer mask to it (click the Add Layer Mask button below the Layer window), Figure 2. A layer mask is the best way to pull a pixel without losing pixels, which is beyond doubt for PS beginners. If you want to be more proficient in PS, I suggest you read some basic articles on this subject.
Figure 2
Third Step
Select the Lady avatar Layer (not mask) and then click image > Adjust > Threshold values. Set the threshold value to 90. Now you can use the Eraser tool to erase unwanted parts or (better) use the brush tool to remove unwanted portions (when you use a layer mask, black is to mask layer pixels and white to restore layer pixels). Figure 3.
Figure 3
Fourth Step
The focus of this step is to select the black area of the image. So take the black as a foreground color and click Select > Color Range. Set the color tolerance value to 200, and then click OK. As shown in Figure 4.
Figure 4
Fifth Step
Click on the right side of the small arrow in the Path window, choose to establish a work path, the tolerance value set to 1,0 (here I do not know whether he said 1 or 10, but look at the following situation I estimate is 1). To create a new layer in the Layer window, select the Pen tool to right-click a brush stroke path below the path window to fill the path. Rename this layer to Black "lady" and hide the layers of other women's images. This is where you will find the white is gone, and you can choose to delete the previously established path. Figure 5.
Figure 5
Sixth step
Create a new layer and click on the white part of the hair using a black brush. Create a new layer, fill it with white, and place the layer below the "black lady" layer. As shown in Figure 6.
Figure 6
Seventh Step
Create a new layer and use a splash brush around the lady's hair to click around. Figure 7 is the result of my operation:
Figure 7
Eighth step
Drag the texture layer into the file at the texture layer, where we use the selection and the Layer Mask tool again in conjunction with the selected selections. CTRL + click on the "Black Lady" layer to select a pixel area. Then SHIFT + CTRL + click on the layer you've applied with the brush (2). Finally you will get the effect shown in Figure 8:
Figure 8
Nineth Step
Add a layer mask to the texture layer, hiding all other layers except the white background layer. As shown in Figure 9.
Figure 9
Tenth step
Now we add a gradient map adjustment layer (click the "gradient map" in the "new adjustment layer" below the layer window). You can choose a default gradient mapping style or create a new color of your own that you like. Drag the adjustment layer of the gradient map to the top of the entire document. Complete!!!
