Preface:
AI students are not necessarily used to a "smear effect" of the filter, slowly this filter is often forgotten. But I actually used it when I met a project recently. This project needs to do a picture, showing a certain sense of modernity. So, trying this long forgotten smear effect, made a brush. The use of brush to make the picture effect I am very surprised, so I would like to share it out to everyone.
We will explain the effects of the smear in detail, learn to make a brush with a painted rectangular pattern, and use the brush to make a poster fragment.
The smear effect can be said to be a little similar to a sketch, of course, it has a larger range. Therefore, many people use the effect of painting to make some similar sketches of the hand-painted effect is also very good.
Open the AI and create a new 1800px*1800px document. In the canvas, draw a few black rectangles as shown in the following illustration. Closes the stroke of a rectangle. The arrangement and size of rectangles are random.
Select all objects, right-click, and select Rotate. The screen pops the rotation settings panel. The angle is set to -45° in the panel.
At this point, the objects are grouped, and the objects of this group are copied several more. Just sort of like this. When arranging, you can split groups of objects and zoom in smaller. As long as do not change the angle, add a little change, make the picture more beautiful.
Next, let's start exploring the smudge effect filter.
Explore Smudge Effects Filter
Let's select all the objects and go to "Effects > Styling > Smearing", and of course, you can add filter effects through the Appearance panel.
The Settings panel that pops the smudge effect. See a lot of parameters in the panel, perhaps beginners will be at this time to create a daunting mentality. In fact, these parameters are some fine-tuning, you can in a trial and again, through the preview effect dynamic grasp of the function of each parameter.
Here my parameter values are as follows:
Angle--45°;
Change--2px;
Stroke width--4px;
Curvature of the--0%;
Change--0%;
Spacing--10px;
Change--0.2px;
In this case, the settings in the panel have a drop-down option, and in the Drop-down option, there are various parameter settings that are preset by other software in advance. You can choose according to your own needs flexibly.
The original pattern is as follows, at which point I can duplicate it and make it stack up and look thicker.
Save our finished pattern as a document in AI format and open it with PS. After opening the automatic pop-up panel, at this point, the other can remain the default, only the resolution needs attention, if your diagram is only displayed on the page, then the resolution can be changed to 72.
At this time, we will see a transparent bottom of the pattern, the pattern has been successfully transferred to PS. We can define it as a brush, go to "Edit > Define Brush Preset" and enter the brush preset name "Smudge" in the pop-up dialog box.
Use PS to create a new 1800px*1200px document. The resolution is set to 72. Fills the background with #ebd9e7.
Copy the background layer and copy the background layer using the filter noise effect. Go to filter > Noise > Add noise, in the noise panel, set the number to 15%, distribute evenly, and select monochrome.
Create a new layer on the noise layer, select the brush of the previous step, adjust the appropriate size, the foreground color is white, brush in a slightly left position smear. In fact, brush smear in what position, you can choose flexibly. The position of the brush smear is the position of the model map.
Add a model, place it at the top, right-click, and select "Create clipping mask."
At this point, I think the model color is too strong, because it has been "attached" to the brush layer, so we directly reduce the brush layer transparency to 80% on it. I can also add some text on the right side of the sea, the color of the text can be directly from the model drawing some of the more vivid colors. Change the direction of the text to a 45 degree angle. and brush the effect of a contrast. Reduced transparency to 20%.
What do you think? The brush is really going to help you? At least the material around you, the idea is temporarily closed, think about, may be able to use this random smear effect, give people unexpected surprises. Of course, the brush can be very, very many changes, creative icebergs are still buried in the water.
You can also save this brush as a brush format file to share with you, I will be here to share the brush with the use of the article at the end of the download link oh.
