He said his company has deployed a series of virtualization solutions, and the root cause of their determination to take these initiatives is cost optimization. He added that, due to virtualization, their data center's previous "Five 9s" availability target is no longer acceptable, and their new goal is 100% availability.

There are many ways to improve the availability of the router. This includes the use of redundant hardware systems and high availability network operating system software. The former supports uninterrupted operations when server components fail, and the latter supports online software upgrades, troubleshooting of non-disruptive redundant routing processors, and non-Disruptive processes and Protocol restart.
