The route selection protocol uses several timers to determine the route update frequency, router failure time, and other parameters. By adjusting the route selection protocol features, you can change these timers to better adapt to Internet needs. You can adjust the following Timers:
Route update transmission rate (Update Interval in seconds)
Required time period (in seconds) before route failure)
Interval of suppressing better route information (in seconds)
Required time before clearing a route from the route table (in seconds)
The amount of time that route updates will be delayed
The software also supports adjusting IP route selection to ensure faster convergence of different IP Route Selection Algorithms because it can depend on redundant routers more quickly, this minimizes the damage caused to end users of the network when rapid recovery is particularly important. To adjust the timer, run the following command in vro Setting Mode:
