This is not a programming technical article.
RSS is expected to be widely used in the early stage of the website. Due to the low popularity of RSS readers, some of my friends only heard that RSS readers are good but they do not know how to use them, so I wrote this.
About RSSPeople who need to read this article may not be interested in the definition of this article. However, let's talk about the link: Wikipedia introduction and Baidu encyclopedia introduction.
This article is not about theory, but about how to use it. Here are several RSS icons:
The first is how to determine whether a page supports RSS. In general, blogs support RSS. The specific identification method can be used to view the page to see if a similar icon is displayed on the page. And more direct method, the browser will identify themselves, look at the following figure, to Lao Xu Sina Blog (http://blog.sina.com.cn/xujinglei) and Google homepage for comparison. Pay attention to the area circled in red on the right side of the image. The pictures are
FireFox:
IE7 (it is a pity that IE6 does not have this feature:
Opera:
All the three images are compared with those without RSS, which should be clear.
RSS reader
In the past, many RSS readers were offline, but now they are basically online. The most frequently used is Google's reader. The address is http://www.google.com/reader, which has a Chinese version.
Domestic reader also has several (of course want to use have to register first): Fresh Fruit RSS reader (http://www.xianguo.com/), Netease youdao RSS reader (http://reader.yodao.com /), there are a few days touched for a long time to find the qq rss reader (http://m311.mail.qq.com/cgi-bin/frame_html? Sid = yJW4a-K3e0KEQEAJ ):
At the bottom of the navigation bar, this "reading space" is used to upload an image for QQ mail. The reason is that QQ is used by everyone, but this reader is very remote, I have been searching for Internet practitioners for half a day...
How to subscribeA blog is in the reader.
Here we use the example of subscribing to Lao Xu's blog
Method 1: Use a browser to open idea:
As for which reader to choose, the options of Each browser should be different. My browser only supports Google, Yahoo, and Bloglines, my friends have a youdao reader that supports Netease. I don't know how to configure it here.
No matter which one you choose, you must click the "subscribe now" button. If you select Google, you will also receive two options:
- Add to Google homepage.
- Add to Google Reader.
We recommend that you select the right, that is, add to Google Reader. The page will jump to the googlereader page.
Method 2: add an address directly to the reader.
Open the reader page and click"Add subscription"Button. Location:
- Google Reader: the upper left of the page, below the LOGO image of Google Reader. The highlighted color is blue.
- Youdao reader: the upper part of the page on the left, and the lower part of youdao LOGO image. The green button in the background color.
- QQ Mail reader: In the middle of the right side of the page, above the "my friends" list.
- Fresh fruit reader: there is a quick add interface on my subscription homepage. In addition, there is a button to add a subscription at the top of "all articles" on the left.
After you click this button, a text input box will pop up asking you to enter the blog address or RSS address.
For example, if you want to subscribe to an old blog, you can enter.
In the future, if you open this reader, you can read the updated content as soon as your blog is updated.
Isn't that convenient?
Of course, if you only track one blog, it is really not convenient, but when you track Multiple blogs, the reader's convenience will come out. Add all the tracking addresses to a reader. Then, you can view all the updates only.
If you have a subscription, You can unsubscribe it. In addition, the four readers mentioned above have the "Import and Export" function.
However, I will not go into detail about these features. Let's explore them.
Also, if you want to read someone's blog and don't want him to know that you are paying attention to him, use RSS reader:
You can see the updates on the other's blog as soon as possible. The reason is that you did not go to another's blog to check whether there are any updates after you open the reader, the reader's server regularly checks whether the target blog has been updated. If there are any updates, the reader will save the content. When you are online, you will be prompted.
That is, you have not directly accessed the blog of the person.
