SDE remote connection failed

Description:

Sde9.3 for sqlserver is installed. Local catlog can be connected. Remote catlog cannot be connected.

Cause: the SDE service EXE is disabled by the firewall.

 

Solution:

Find the SDE service EXE and right-click the service --> properties. Executable File Path: "C: \ Program Files \ ArcGIS \ ArcSDE \ sqlexe \ bin \ giomgr.exe"

In the control panel --> window firewall --> example, export giomgr.exeProgram.

 

Note: fireproof wall blocks sqlsvr.exeand sqlbrowser.exe. giomgr.exe is allowed and SDE can work normally.

Recommended Practice: Prevent sqlsvr.exeand sqlbrowser.exe from being blocked only for external giomgr.exe.
