The binocular camera estimates the location of a space point by a baseline between multiple cameras. Unlike the Monocular, stereoscopic vision can be used to estimate the depth of motion, or to estimate at rest, eliminating many of the problems of Monocular vision.

Slam typically includes the following sections, feature extraction, data correlation, state estimation, status updates, and feature updates. There are several methods for each of these parts. For each section, we'll explain one of these methods in more detail. In practice, the reader can use other methods instead of the methods described in this article.
