Some experiences with VMware ESX

Vmware ESXi 4.1 HA was recently deployed using Dell R710 and EQ PS6100, which summarizes some experiences:

During HA deployment, all virtual machine files must be stored in shared storage. Therefore, a few GB volumes are dedicated to the storage. These volumes are only stored in the system disk of the virtual machine, that is to say, only the C disk is placed here. Each system disk has at least 50 GB of data and does not require snapshots.
Virtual Machine files should not exceed 300 GB in terms of performance. If they exceed GB, create a new virtual disk.
Other Disk Partitions of virtual machines directly use iSCSI Initiator to mount storage volumes. Do not use the Virtual Machine File System. These volumes can take into account the stored snapshot function.
Virtual Disks should not be too large, especially not suitable for file servers. If the files stored are small files of hundreds of KB, the overall system performance will certainly not be good.
